Systems Engineer, Data Analyst
Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Network Modeler for a client in Pewaukee or Green Bay, WI.
Position SummaryThe Network Modeler will create and maintain the network and SCADA models of the distribution, substation and transmission systems within the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS). These models represent and accurately reflect the current state of the electric systems, which are both manually and automatically updated by device status changes and communications to field devices. The models provide status and information about the network and are used to operate the network;
they must be built, validated and maintained using established application principles, practices and the software solution.
- Work on software applications and issues that are of moderate scope and complexity.
- Operate with limited direction and plan work independently based on team and business unit goals.
- Build and maintain network displays for distribution, substation and transmission views.
- Complete SCADA mapping of electrical devices.
- Understand internal views and how to build and maintain them.
- Understand how to create, validate and maintain distribution automation and one‑line composite views.
- Provide analysis and validation of auto‑generated views.
- Apply analytical skills to import GIS information, troubleshoot errors and develop solutions.
- Provide guidance by defining the data cleanup scope for the GIS team.
- Provide analysis and troubleshooting for testing and commissioning new devices.
- Provide technical support for point‑to‑point testing.
- Proficient with business standards to review, analyze and confirm network model and substation validations.
- Develop symbols and symbol profiles within ADMS.
- Facilitate other data feeds into ADMS (load profiles, customer data, etc.).
- Analyze and promote model changes into ADMS network.
- Develop and analyze additional data sources for ADMS.
- Manage non‑telemetered points for model configuration (catalogs, tags, notes).
- Effectively complete issue reporting and communications with other teams.
- Review work of less experienced team members.
Bachelor’s degree Required. Preferred degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, MIS, or Engineering.
