Assists with preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detail estimates for smaller, less complex projects. Requires experience in a specific trade.
Responsibilities- Analyzes drawings and performs material take-offs using applicable software for detailed estimates.
- Develops project updates and bid package estimate documents’ comparison.
- Tracks and adjusts quantities as needed and resolves discrepancies.
- Researches and compiles historical cost data, keeps database current for future estimates.
- Makes sure file of working project documents is maintained to back up estimating figures.
- Responds to basic questions from internal managers.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or trade school or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good analytical skills.
- Basic ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Basic ability to read and understand specifications and drawings.
- General knowledge of construction costs and principles.
- Basic mathematical calculations and application of fractions, percentages, ratios, pr orations.
- Basic drafting skills.
- Competent Excel and Word skills.
- Basic knowledge of Quick Pen Auto Bid Mechanical and Sheet Metal Estimating software.
