The LAUSD Reading Tutor will work in collaboration with Los Angeles area schools. The tutor is responsible for instruction in small groups with a focus on closing the achievement gap and building a stronger academic foundation.

• Experience working with students as a teacher, tutor, or resource personnel.
• Understand the need for accurate PLI record keeping and documentation in a timely manner.
• Providing small group instruction.
• Setting and maintaining high expectations for students.
• Executing student goal-setting conferences.
• Collecting and analyzing data.
• Building relationships with students in service of their academic growth.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to motivate students to daily attendance.
• Communicate with PLI management, school staff, and parents.
• Adhere to all Proximity Learning, Inc. timelines and expectations.

• Must live in the Los Angeles, CA area.
• This is an on‑site position.
• Must have own transportation.
• Willing to work between 20 to 40 hours per week.
• Will work with 52 Street Elementary School or Arroyo Seco Museum Science Magnet School.
