Role Mission
IDEA Foreign Language (Spanish) teachers may instruct students in grades 8-12 in Spanish language and literature. Students take Spanish I in 8th grade, Spanish II in 9th grade and Spanish III in 10th grade. Most IDEA students take AP Spanish Language in 11th grade and AP Spanish Literature in 12th grade. Course-preps per teacher vary by campus. Most IDEA campuses have 2-3 Foreign Language teachers once fully scaled to Grades 6-12.
All IDEA Foreign Language teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while also embodying IDEA’s values daily. IDEA Foreign Language teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and diligently track student data to inform dynamic and effective daily lesson plans. IDEA Foreign Language teachers seek feedback and continue to develop their teaching practice to better serve IDEA students.
We strive to accomplish goals in two ways: by giving students the chance to experience rigorous and challenging material in high school and by giving them the opportunity to gain college-credit through dual-enrollment, AP, or IB courses.
