We are seeking a process-oriented Purchaser with strong data skills to plan, order, and track the purchases of electrical materials used for residential electrical work.
Powerhouse Electrical Services, Inc. is a family owned and operated residential electrical contractor serving the homebuilding industry in Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding areas. Our company was founded in 2003 and has grown to over 100 employees while building a strong reputation as a leader in our local marketplace and our industry.
As our Purchaser, you will contribute to our company’s success by helping to ensure that our electricians in the field have the materials they need to complete their work. You’ll be responsible for buying the necessary materials in the appropriate quantities, at the right price and when they are needed. In this role you will build solid relationships with our vendors and suppliers and collaborate with field, warehouse, and estimating teams to share information and solve problems.
This position will challenge you to learn the breadth of materials used in our trade and manage the logistics challenges faced by today’s construction industry. The reward will be the opportunity to contribute to a team of passionate, talented, and caring professionals who are committed to growing and thriving as a company and as individuals.
As the Purchaser, your duties will include:
- Collaborate with warehouse manager to identify what materials need to be ordered each day, then analyze past usage and future forecasts to establish how much to order.
- Generate purchase orders for electrical materials and submit them to electrical distributors and suppliers.
- Track the status of open purchase orders and inbound shipments.
- Close purchase orders for received materials.
- Confirm all materials on order have arrived and are invoiced at the correct price.
- Follow up on outstanding backorders and help manage response to longer-than-expected lead times.
- Manage stock quotes and special pricing agreements (SPA’s).
- Get price quotes and availability for job-specific “special order” materials, then place and track the orders.
- Collaborate with warehouse and accounting teams to plan, organize, and execute monthly inventory cycle counts.
- Data entry of pricing into ERP software, Microsoft Excel, and similar tools.
- Generate accurate reports of past, present, and future pricing for the materials we buy and use.
- Generate purchase history and usage reports.
- Communicate price changes and increases to sales and estimating teams and company leadership.
We think you’ll be a great Purchaser if you:
- Are able to stay on top of many details and a high volume of paperwork
- Are a focused and deliberate individual who delivers consistent results on projects and tasks
- Have the ability to identify roadblocks and challenges in existing processes and procedures and suggest improvements
- Communicate well with others (verbally and written)
- Are good with numbers and math
- Are proactive and spot small problems before they become bigger problems
- Are comfortable being hands-on with the materials we use and moving around our warehouse environment
- Are dependable, punctual, and eager to learn
Qualifications:
- Intermediate to Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Relevant purchasing or inventory control experience with ERP/accounting software is preferred but not required (especially Computer Ease)
- Proficient working in a Microsoft Windows desktop computing environment (use of Microsoft Windows OS, finding and saving files on a network, etc.)
The schedule for this position is normal business hours on weekdays. This role is located in our company office and is not a remote position. We offer an hourly wage commensurate with experience and access to insurance and 401k benefits after 60 days of employment. We are an equal opportunity employer and a smoke-free workplace. Background investigation, MVR, and drug screening required.
