Repair and Tool Technician

Overview

Repair and Tool Technicians are responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. This position makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Technicians work in stores with Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In a store, technicians provide service to store customers in Tool Rental, including writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verifying tool operation, and demonstrating proper use as needed.

They support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. In non-store locations, technicians ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining tools and repairing them as necessary.

• Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices.
• Recommend equipment and maintain units.
• Provide Tool Rental center service, write contracts and invoices for rentals and repairs, and demonstrate proper use when needed.
• Operate and maintain equipment in the tool rental department.
• In non-store locations, ensure repairs are completed, tested, and cleaned before return.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of tools and manage tool inventory, performing repairs as needed.

• Strong knowledge of tools and repair methods for small engines and outdoor equipment.
• Experience with inventory management and customer service in a retail/tool rental environment (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and safety guidelines.
