General Purpose
The Retail Associate ensures our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers courteous & friendly, treats fellow associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority: practice safe behaviors; maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, greet them with eye contact, smiles, “hello” and say “thank you” at every transaction.
- Assist customers: register‑trained, help merchandise, answer questions politely & knowledgeably.
- Respond promptly to customer service calls and issues; call store leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters & mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance & adhere to dress code.
- Perform daily sizing & recovery per best practice to keep store neat, clean & organized.
- Expedite new merchandise receipts, merchandise items per presentation guidelines, maintain brand familiarity.
- Understand loss‑prevention awareness, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity & honesty; safeguard confidential info, cash, credit cards & merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies; process MOS items and notify leadership for disposals.
- Follow cash & refund procedures; handle bankable tenders accurately.
- Show urgency to maximize productivity by executing best practices and minimizing steps.

Qualifications & Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with customers, associates & store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative & pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations in retail environment.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Use all store equipment, PDTs, registers and PC.
- Stand, walk, move around store up to 100% of working time.
- Bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop regularly.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs (stockroom shifts: more than 20 lbs).
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, other assigned supplies.
- Other assignments may require other qualifications.
