As an Applebee‘s® Assistant Manager, you will oversee all day‑to‑day restaurant operations, ensuring guests and staff enjoy a positive experience every day. You will lead, problem‑solve, manage stress, and maintain a high standard of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving unit objectives.
- Cultivate a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee’s core values.
- Respond immediately to guest complaints and correct issues with staff.
- Prioritize guest contact by completing required table visits.
- Maintain departmental inventory levels.
- Ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards via line checks.
- Schedule employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintain safety and security programs.
- Promote and lead restaurant organization, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Perform routine maintenance and report repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
- Promote quality recruitment and referral of potential team and management candidates.
- Encourage Flynn Applebee‘s training procedures for new managers.
- Maintain a trained staff through orientation, one‑on‑one, and training sessions.
- Participate in employee development using one‑on‑one and performance documentation.
- Provide fair feedback and support employee development.
- Document situations requiring disciplinary action.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Control costs in the assigned department.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Drive bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories as requested.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
- Meet or exceed health department and Flynn Applebee’s sanitation standards.
- Act as a role model for managers and employees.
- Develop knowledge of all store‑related technology.
- Be willing and able to work in all positions and assist as needed.
- Utilize the Management Development Program for continuous growth.
- At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.
- Work various shifts, including weekends.
- Stand and move for up to ten (10) hours.
- Safely lift up to 50 pounds (pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc.).
- Read and write to facilitate communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
