- Promote and maintain civil order; enforce laws and ordinances; conduct investigations; issue citations; make arrests.
- Patrol assigned area, provide security, respond to alarm and emergency calls, conduct traffic and parking supervision.
- Prepare detailed incident reports immediately following events and maintain daily log registers.
- Maintain equipment in functional condition; inspect facilities for safety hazards and submit maintenance orders as needed.
- Assist with misdemeanor and felony investigations: interview victims, suspects and witnesses, collect evidence, prepare case files, and supervise evidence processing.
- Transport mail to the post office, bank deposits for the College Business Office, and other administrative transport duties as assigned.
- Monitor security cameras, assist with electronic emergency notifications, and process campus event security.
- Provide escort and assistance to campus visitors, personnel, late‑night vehicles, or during athletic events.
- Serve as game day administrator for athletic events and provide security for college events and activities.
- Attend and assist with emergency training, drills, and exercises; participate in disaster coordination and emergency response planning.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and comply with all college policies and procedures.
- Maintain physical fitness and agility required for the role.
- Commit to continuing education: complete twelve (12) continuing education hours annually and recertify on firearms range annually.
- Keep available for all shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police, Dean of Students, Campus Services, or President.
- High school diploma or GED; if attending college, demonstrate at least two (2) years of full‑time employment as a police officer.
- Valid Alabama Peace Officers Standard and Training Commission (APOST) Minimum Standards Certificate or eligibility for a lateral transfer from APOST.
- Ability to qualify with a personal firearm and to obtain a concealed carry license within the first month of employment.
- Valid Alabama driver’s license, insurable by the College’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first month of employment.
- Physical fitness and agility required.
- Selective Search Registration proof (for male applicants aged 18–26).
- Will consent to and pass a criminal background check; employment contingent upon clearance.
- Eligibility for E‑Verify employment verification process.
- Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited post‑secondary institution.
