Data Center Connectivity & Emerging Technology Engineer
Global Travel Required
An established global technology company is seeking a technically strong, forward-thinking engineer to help shape the future of data center connectivity and emerging technologies supporting AI infrastructure.
This is a unique opportunity for an industry thought leader who understands the evolving data center ecosystem and can influence technology roadmaps, research and development, engineering, and business development. The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge with the ability to represent the organization at global industry events, engage with technology leaders, and identify emerging trends that will shape next-generation data center architectures.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a technical thought leader on data center connectivity, emerging optical technologies, and next-generation AI infrastructure.
- Provide technical insight and influence R&D, engineering, product development, and business development initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, including Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), silicon photonics, high-speed optical connectivity, and next-generation interconnect solutions.
- Engage with hyperscalers, data center operators, technology partners, industry organizations, and engineering leaders to understand evolving requirements and opportunities.
- Represent the organization at global industry conferences, trade shows, technical forums, and leadership panels, with approximately monthly travel.
- Build relationships across the data center and AI ecosystem to help translate emerging market needs into future technology and business opportunities.
- Communicate complex technical concepts, industry developments, and strategic opportunities to both technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Strong engineering or technical background in data center connectivity, optical communications, networking, or related technologies.
- Knowledge of emerging data center architectures and technologies supporting AI infrastructure, including CPO, silicon photonics, high-speed interconnects, and optical connectivity.
- Understanding of the challenges and requirements associated with hyperscale data centers, AI factories, GPU clusters, and next-generation networking.
- Ability to engage credibly with R&D teams, engineers, technology executives, industry experts, and business development leaders.
- Established industry presence or the ability to become a recognized thought leader through technical presentations, conference participation, panels, and industry engagement.
- Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
- Willingness to travel globally approximately once per month for industry events and strategic engagements.
This is not a traditional engineering role focused solely on design or execution. It offers the opportunity to influence future technology direction, connect industry innovation with R&D and engineering, and help drive business development in a rapidly evolving data center and AI market.
