Data Engineering, Python, AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Remote, US
I’m working with a profitable, bootstrapped AI research platform that helps some of the best-known US consumer brands understand what people think and why. Their clients use it in place of traditional research agencies to get faster insight and better data quality. It was built by former Palantir and Harris Poll leaders, and the team is small: four engineers and a hands‑on CTO.
They’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to own how clients get their data onto the platform and how much value they get from it.
The RoleYou’ll take the hardest data work off the CTO’s plate. That means pushing messy, painful data integrations through until they work, then automating the pain away. It’s a customer‑facing seat, focused on client outcomes more than the technology for its own sake.
Typical work includes:
- Leading historical data ingestions: bringing years of client research from other vendors into the platform, and tracking how survey questions and answers changed from wave to wave
- Building back casting models with the research team so historical data lines up with live tracking data
- Using AI and automation to turn manual ingestion, validation and analysis into repeatable frameworks
- Owning client‑facing projects from start to finish, increasingly with enterprise brands
- Fixing bugs and filling gaps in the platform across Type Script, React and Node, and in SQL, Python or R
SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, Type Script, React, Node.js, R, SPSS, AWS, data pipelines and ETL, and AI agents and LLM automation.
What they’re looking for- 5 to 10 years in a technical, client‑facing role such as forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, client‑facing data engineering or technical consulting
- Hands‑on experience ingesting, cleaning and modelling messy data whose structure changes over time, such as schema drift or vendor migrations
- Strong SQL, PostgreSQL and Python
- Experience at an early‑stage start‑up (seed to Series B) with real ownership
- The drive to lead projects without much direction and pull in the right people at the right time
- Experience delivering for enterprise or large consumer brands is a plus, and so is survey or market research data (tracking studies, weighting)
- US‑based and flexible on hours across East and West Coast time zones
- US citizen or Green Card holder (no visa sponsorship)
- Join a profitable, bootstrapped company with no dilution, where your work ties straight to client outcomes
- Own the data side of client delivery at an early stage
- $225,000 to $250,000 base plus performance bonus and equity
- Fully remote in US time zones, with 2 to 4 team offsites a year
- A fast process: after an intro call, all interviews are done within two to three days
