Healthcare Nursing, Patient Care Technician
St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Assistant to provide patient care, participate in data collection, and support nursing staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Performs the following tasks as assigned:
- Vital signs
- Intake and output measurements
- EKGs
- Glucometry
- Phlebotomy
- Specimen collection
- Documentation for all assigned responsibilities
- Follows treatment plan as directed by licensed personnel.
- Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service.
- Performs patient mobilization using appropriate body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Accepts responsibility for providing safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
- Communicates changes in patients’ conditions and unit concerns with the team.
- Restocks unit supplies as needed.
- Performs equipment checks and unit‑specific maintenance duties as appropriate.
- Takes active role in unit‑based performance improvement.
- Maintains awareness of unit budget.
- Maintains professional development through participation in in‑services and continuing education.
- Assists in orienting and educating new staff.
- Floats as needed per unit and hospital policy.
Sit up to 7 hours per day; stand up to 10 hours per day; walk 6 hours per day. Lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 lb; occasionally up to 75 lb. Transport patients weighing up to 400 lb via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher. Frequently stoop, bend, and reach above shoulder level. Perceive attributes of an object through touch, hear normal conversational frequencies, and see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent required. Health care specialty training preferred.
Training and ExperienceIndividualized orientation program. Obtain BLS certification within 60 days of employment or transfer. Basic computer skills required. Attend St. Luke’s University Health Network APC and MT courses or provide evidence of previous training.
Compensation Range$17.55 – $26.33 per hour. Salary determined by location and candidate qualifications.
