The Student Nurse Extern
- Level II is responsible for providing health care to patients working closely with members of the health care team collecting data and implementing patient care. The SNE will function under the discretion of an RN mentor where they are able to participate in the coordination and provision of individualized, quality patient care based on the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Additionally, the SNE will have periodic, designated observation opportunities with a designated RN in specialty areas to experience different nursing career path opportunities.

The Student Nurse Externship program is a 9-week;
Full-Time position, 12 Hour Day Shift between Monday-Friday (no weekends, no holidays). We will be holding 2 cohorts over the summer which will run from:

The Student Nurse Extern II Program is for nursing students Currently enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program having successfully completed junior year and entering senior year of nursing program.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows treatment plan as directed by licensed personnel.
• Performs the following tasks as assigned: (a.) Vital signs, (b.) Intake and output measurements, (c.) Glucometry, (d.) Specimen collection, (e.) Patient ADLs (bathing, oral care, toileting, feeding, mobility/ambulation, etc.), (f.) Restocking supplies; checking and/or cleaning equipment.
• Assists with the admitting process and documents on admission database as appropriate.
• Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service.
• Accepts responsibility for providing safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
• Communicates changes in patients’ conditions to the RN.
• Documentation for all assigned responsibilities
• Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs as appropriate.
• Complies with established chain of command for work related problems.
• Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
• Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
• Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
• Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate:
