Real estate accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Real Estate Accountant to join a collaborative and experienced accounting team. This position focuses on managing and overseeing the reimbursement of recoverable expenses (such as CAM, utilities, and property taxes) for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to interpret lease agreements.

• Calculate annual rent roll impounds and make adjustments as needed.
• Prepare and manage annual/periodic tenant billings for recoverable expenses in accordance with lease terms.
• Develop annual recoveries budgets and quarterly projections.
• Interpret and apply lease or contractual terms impacting recoverable expense calculations.
• Ensure compliance with reimbursement provisions in lease agreements.
• Calculate monthly recovery accruals and assist with property accounting.
• Respond to tenant inquiries and resolve billing disputes.
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Property Management, Leasing, Legal, and Operations teams.
• Provide ad hoc reporting and support for cross‑functional projects.

• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Business preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (property accounting or full‑cycle GL preferred).
• Familiarity with lease interpretation and contract compliance.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Yardi is a plus.
