Internship

Description:

This is a 3-month internship

  • Hours:

    8 am - 12 PM M-F
  • Location:

    850 PBC, 850 N. 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85004
  • Internship Stipend: $1,500 per month paid on the 15th and end of each month.
  • The intern is an employee of the Opportunity Through Entrepreneurship Foundation based in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Prior to employment, applicants must provide documentation to support both the I-9 process and E-VERIFY.
  • The intern will report directly to Dr. Dylan Peay and also interface with LSWC leadership.

Duties:

The intern will split time between marketing/communications—maintaining a simple editorial calendar, drafting/publishing Linked In posts, and producing brief partner spotlights and a monthly email—and operations supporting two federal awards, including maintaining deliverables trackers, preparing monthly invoice packets, scheduling partner meetings, and managing partner communications. The role also maintains a CRM spreadsheet (data hygiene, standardized tags) and delivers a monthly pipeline snapshot.

Role Overview

The intern will split time between two project pillars:

1) Marketing, Communications & Social Media

  • Maintain a 12-week editorial calendar aligned to LSWC programs and partner milestones.
  • Draft, route for approval, and publish ~3 posts/week (Linked In primary; others as needed).
  • Produce 2 partner spotlights per month (short profile + post + image collateral).
  • Draft monthly email update/newsletter (copy + assets) for LSWC stakeholders/partners.
  • Maintain a lightweight brand asset library (logos, slide/one-pager templates, image bank).
  • Track and report basic analytics weekly (post count, reach/engagement if available).

2) Operations & Grants Support

  • Maintain/Update a Grants & Contracts Tracker for two federal awards: deliverables, due dates, reporting artifacts, and invoice status
  • Consolidate documents for monthly invoice packets
  • Manage partner communications: maintain directory (POCs), send reminders, log responses.
  • Schedule meetings with LSWC partners (e.g., biweekly ops syncs, reporting check-ins).
  • Capture meeting notes and action items in collaboration with LSWC leadership; send follow-ups within 2-business days.
  • Keep documentation organized in approved folders with clear version control.
  • Maintain and update the CRM/spreadsheet (contacts, organizations, interactions, engagement stage); enforce data hygiene (required fields, standardized tags, deduping) and deliver a monthly pipeline snapshot.
  • Follow internal processes and controls for organizational records and documents in Google workspace/share drive.

Qualifications

  • Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student (communications, public policy, business, or related). Awareness of the life sciences and/or workforce needs is not required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organization habits; high attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with Linked In and basic content tools (e.g., Canva or similar).
  • Proficient with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365; strong spreadsheet skills.
  • Familiarity with federal grants/agreements is helpful (not required).
  • Professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
