Position: Legal Assistant - Public Finance (Phoenix)

Taft is seeking a legal assistant to support the Public Finance team in our Phoenix office.

We are seeking a legal assistant to support our Public Finance team in the Phoenix office. Strong candidates should have document preparation experience, working with complex documents and possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients, attorneys, and staff. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Edit and proofread complex documents, including proactive review for, and ability to relay, relevant discrepancies/inconsistencies.
  • Actively support the billing process to include printing BIMs, preparing template bills, and finalizing and sending bills.
  • Independently perform administrative duties such as proofreading, editing, and releasing attorney time entries; registering, calendaring, and reporting Continuing Legal Education credits; requesting and following up on reimbursements and other related tasks.
  • Prepare and review letters and memoranda according to firm standards using word processing and document management systems.
  • Exhibit outstanding client service orientation in greeting guests, scheduling meetings, and conducting telephone conferences.
  • Display a strong attention to detail.
  • Anticipate what tasks are needed and proactively perform them as appropriate.
  • Respond to requests with a sense of urgency; effectively monitor deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Create, maintain, and retire files in accordance with Taft's Information Governance Policy.
  • Assist in managing client contacts, emails, and print documents as well as processing mail.
  • Communicate clearly in a concise, professional manner.
Requirements
  • 2+ years' legal assistant experience preferred.
  • Experience with transactional legal support preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficient command of the English language, syntax, and standard grammar rules.
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and writing skills.

    Ability to adapt to workplace stressors and competing priorities.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Must show strong attention to detail and ability to manage and monitor multiple projects.
  • Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
