We are seeking a talented individual to join our Government Human Services Consulting team s role will be based in Phoenix, Atlanta, D.C., or Minneapolis and is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of actuaries, data analysts, clinicians, and health policy consultants supporting multiple large, complex capitation rate‑setting and other actuarial projects.
  • Work with project leaders and clients to define scope, serve as an expert on rate structures and methodologies, and ensure consistency with federal regulations and actuarial standards.
  • Oversee the development of rate‑setting assumptions built into actuarial models and guide teams on data and assumption impacts.
  • Collaborate directly with clients on emerging or unique challenges, leveraging Mercer’s multidisciplinary expertise to design innovative solutions.
  • Draft and sign rate‑certification letters, presentations, and other statements of actuarial opinion.
  • Identify growth and development opportunities for team members and provide guidance, oversight, and mentoring.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree.
  • 10+ years of health actuarial experience, including 5+ years in Medicaid.
  • Actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, MAAA).
  • Experience leading large multi‑disciplinary teams and complex projects.
What Makes You Stand Out
  • Medicaid actuarial experience across multiple states, programs, insurers, or Federal agencies, with consulting experience.
  • Ability to manage client and project demands in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in health plan analysis or capitated rate development.
Benefits and Compensation

The applicable base salary range is $150,500 to $301,000, with potential performance‑based incentives. Mercer offers a competitive total rewards package, including health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k), and employee assistance programs.
