Position SummaryThis position is responsible for overseeing the grants and contracts for Phoenix Children’s research and sponsored programs. It assists investigators and staff with grant application processes, reviews and administers all clinical and translational laboratory neuroscience research, and manages grant development from pre‑award through post‑award administration. The role collaborates with Accounting, Finance, Office of Research and Institute staff to prepare program budgets, contract modifications, and financial and progress reports.
It also identifies new funding opportunities and negotiates contracts.
- Assist the Director of Research Coordination and Education with grant management, business issues, inter/intra‑institutional financial contracts, materials transfer and data sharing agreements, and financial management of clinical trials.
- Maintain proposal documentation, track financial metrics, and produce related reports to ensure compliance.
- Develop non‑science documents for proposal submission such as budget, narrative, facilities, inclusion of minorities, human subjects protection, etc.
- Disseminate compliance information to research and administrative staff.
- Review and reconcile monthly Research and Foundation Summary Sheets.
- Prepare and submit the annual Research Budget to Phoenix Children’s Finance.
- Provide reports on research funding opportunities regularly.
- Serve as lead contact for pre‑ and post‑award activities, specialize in regulatory requirements, contract administration, and interactions with other institutions.
- Collaborate with the Office of Research to electronically submit grant and fellowship applications.
- Serve as liaison with external funding agencies during proposal submission and award acceptance, reviewing terms and negotiating as needed.
- Work with Finance to manage post‑award financial grants, including budget reallocations and reporting.
- Coordinate with the Phoenix Children’s Foundation on proposal submissions and budget assistance.
- Obtain and coordinate required forms, check proposal budgets for accuracy, and ensure adherence to agency guidelines.
- Formulate policies and align procedures for grant administration with the Office of Research.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related field. - Three (3) or more years of research experience, including at least two (2) years processing grants, contracts, and budgets.
- Experience with a not‑for‑profit research institute subject to A‑122 is preferred.
- Knowledge of post‑award grant and contract accounting, OMB Circulars A‑122, A‑133, and A‑110, NIH policy guidelines and cost accounting, and interpreting award terms.
- Strong organizational skills for handling complex information.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Access.
- Preferred:
Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
