Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction (self-perform)

Jobot, a Heavy Civil General Contractor based in Phoenix, AZ, invites applications for a Permanent Estimator for heavy civil construction projects. This role focuses on self‑perform projects and offers an annual salary of $110,000–$140,000.

Job Details

• Permanent full‑time position.

• Requires strong experience with HCSS, Microsoft Project, value engineering, blueprint reading, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Evaluate and analyze bid documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and gather necessary data to accurately estimate costs.
  • Use Microsoft Project to manage and track project timelines and costs.
  • Apply value engineering principles to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical documents to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure the best prices and contracts.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Present estimates to senior management and clients, explaining the basis for the costs and the methods used.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects, with a focus on self‑perform work.
  • Proven expertise in estimating costs for underground utilities, site work, drainage, and roadway construction.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or similar project management software.
  • Solid understanding of value engineering principles and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with a track record of securing favorable terms and prices.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
