UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company providing fully integrated design-build services to high-tech industry clients, including engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery.

The company manages clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up.

Summary: The Foreman leads a team of construction support laborers, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe construction environment. Responsibilities include monitoring site access, basic site maintenance, safety compliance, and daily operational support. The position is full-time onsite, available for all hours of operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of construction laborers and material handlers on site.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly at the end of each day.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of temporary structures such as tents, fencing, and barriers.
  • Monitor site access to ensure only authorized personnel enter; report suspicious activities to the site manager.
  • Maintain safety signs, barriers, and protective equipment in good condition.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Support enforcement of safety protocols among site personnel.
  • Assist construction workers with basic tasks (moving materials, loading/unloading, deliveries).
  • Maintain records of site activities, including deliveries, visitor logs, safety inspections, delays, damages, and fuel logs.
  • Report incidents, accidents, or safety violations to the site manager.
  • Provide daily reports to the site manager on site conditions and any arising issues.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of experience in a construction environment.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of construction site operations and safety practices.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to review construction drawings and terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organization.
  • Integrity, professionalism, confidentiality.
  • Follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and present information effectively to managers.
  • Build relationships with employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Work under pressure, meet deadlines with professionalism.
  • Work in a construction site environment outdoors and in a trailer office.
  • Work extended periods in outside conditions, standing, walking, driving.
Language Proficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license; may need to travel within Arizona.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, extended periods standing, walking, or sitting while working at a computer. Frequent movement between the construction trailer and various site areas is necessary. The employee may be exposed to typical construction hazards such as dust, moving machinery, weather, chemicals, and noise. UIS will provide required safety protection and comply with all OSHA standards.
