The position combines hands-on field presence with detailed document review, project coordination, and mentorship of inspection staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive construction administration for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems on water and wastewater projects from pre-construction conferences through final closeout.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment and control panel submittals, and O&M manuals to verify compliance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Review and respond to contractor RFIs, collaborating with the engineering team to resolve field and design-related issues promptly.
  • Evaluate contractor change orders and supporting documentation and assess pay applications against actual work in place.
  • Review as-built information and assist in preparing accurate and complete record drawings.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready project records, including schedules, decisions, correspondence, and construction documentation.

  • Prepare detailed field reports, punch lists, and other construction documentation to track progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and observe equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and functional performance testing to ensure systems operate as intended.
  • Monitor corrective work and track deficiencies through to resolution and project closeout.
  • Coordinate with engineers, municipal agencies, contractors, equipment suppliers, and other project stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Serve as the primary electrical point of contact for clients during construction, providing clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
  • Manage responsibilities across multiple active construction projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines.
  • Guide and mentor field inspection staff, helping refine inspection standards, checklists, and best practices.
  • Capture lessons learned from field experience and communicate them to the design team to improve future projects.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and file management related to electrical construction activities.
  • Work safely on active construction sites, including in and around energized equipment, confined spaces, and treatment process areas, while following all safety protocols.

  • Thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard electrical construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, motor control schematics, and instrumentation and control drawings, and to use plans and specifications to manage, inspect, or build projects.
