ATSSA Certified Flagger

Job Description

ATSSA Certified Flaggers are trained professionals who direct traffic safely around road construction, utility work, and event traffic-control areas. Using paddles, and two-way radios, they help protect workers, motorists, and pedestrians while coordinating with the site superintendent, project foreman, and safety manager. This role supports local project sites and may require frequent travel between multiple work sites.

Responsibilities

• Control traffic through road construction, utility, and event work zones.
• Conduct flagging operations using handheld signs, paddles, and approved hand signals.
• Support work-zone safety for workers, motorists, and pedestrians.
• Place and maintain traffic-control signs and equipment.
• Communicate with site personnel using two-way radios.
• Monitor work zones for hazards and changing traffic conditions.
• Inspect traffic-control equipment before and during operations.
• Report incidents and coordinate activities with the site superintendent, project foreman, and safety manager.

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in traffic control operations.
• ATSSA Certified Flagger certification.
