ABOUT ACCESS OFFSHORING:

We specialise in providing Australian businesses with experience and qualified professionals based in the Philippines. Not only does our team of recruiters have extensive experience in sourcing and recruiting offshore talent, we also help Australian businesses implement best practice when it comes to building an offshore team.

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client is an established Australian civil construction contractor based in Sydney, specialising in excavation and utility infrastructure, including drainage, sewer, water, electrical, telecommunications, HV electrical and shaft excavations for tunnels. The business is looking to expand its estimating capability with a dedicated offshore team member who can support quantity take-offs, estimates and tender preparation for Australian projects.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly experienced Civil Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with a minimum of 10 years of civil estimating xperience and a background in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline.

The successful candidate will initially focus on quantity take-offs while learning the client's processes and systems, then progress to completing full estimates, including labour and materials, alongside the Australian estimating team.

Strong experience in utilities estimating is essential, particularly drainage, sewer, water and electrical works. Experience across telecommunications, HV electrical and shaft excavation, or broader civil work such as earthworks and roadworks, would be highly regarded.

The role requires someone who understands how a job runs from start to finish. Beyond a bill of quantities, they should be able to develop a program and methodology from their estimate and understand what the estimate represents.

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs.
  • Prepare civil construction estimates, including labour and material costs, using the client's Excel templates.
  • Develop cost plans and pricing schedules.
  • Develop project programs and construction methodologies to support each estimate.
  • Assist with updating estimates as project information changes.

Tender preparation

  • Support the preparation of tender estimates.
  • Assist with proposals and tender submissions.
  • Compile estimating information and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure required estimating information is complete and organised prior to submission.
  • Support the Australian team in meeting tender deadlines.

Civil and utility infrastructure estimating

  • Support estimating across utility infrastructure projects, including drainage, sewer, water and electrical works.
  • Apply relevant experience to telecommunications, HV electrical and shaft excavation scopes where applicable.
  • Review project documentation associated with water, sewer, drainage and pipeline works.
  • Interpret drawings and construction information to determine quantities and pricing requirements.

Documentation and systems

  • Maintain accurate estimating documentation and records.
  • Work within the client's Excel-based estimating templates and processes.
  • Use Advanced Excel for estimating, calculations and associated analysis.
  • Review and work from drawings using AutoCAD where required.
  • Maintain organised tender and estimating files.
  • Take part in training workshops over Microsoft Teams to learn Australian codes, standards and company processes.
