About The Position

A Sr. Content Designer crafts simple, compelling, and human experiences that guide users through our suite of innovative digital products and services. An individual demonstrates the UOPX eight principles of content design: clear, concise, helpful, relevant, human, accessible, inclusive, and empathetic, using our design thinking philosophy and product strategy. A Sr Content Designer guides and mentors junior content designers on the team to deliver on these principles.

An individual uses these principles as a subject matter expert to influence the student experience effectively and collaboratively. The Sr Content Designer engages in and often leads discovery practices, and applies human-centered thinking to how they design, write, edit and test product flows, features, content frameworks and more, for mobile and desktop platforms.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and collaborate closely with UX designers and product leads to deeply understand user needs, influence design decisions, and align content strategies with business objectives.
  • Leverage the power of storytelling and conversation design practices to design, write, edit and test simple, yet compelling language that fits into the current UOPX brand and moves the brand forward in a way that helps users and teams meet their goals.
  • Define customer problem statements and create personas to craft engaging, humanized content that connects with customer needs.
  • Lead discovery methods and competitive analysis to help your product team build roadmaps for user testing and implementation.
  • Lead audits of existing experiences to gather deep insights to refine content strategies, create information architecture, and drive continuous improvement and optimization.
  • Lead the SEO strategy and content hierarchies for your product teams to drive results through increased content efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop low-fidelity wireframes in Miro and contribute to high-fidelity prototypes using Figma.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across disciplines to understand key customer needs, including engineering, design, content architecture, research, marketing, and data science, to take products from conception to launch.
  • Conduct user interviews with upper funnel, mid- and lower-funnel visitors to iterate on content design based on user feedback, so you can improve the customer journey and prospect/retention rate.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to your content design peers to continuously improve voice and tone.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Education And Related Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Human-centered Design. A UX Writing/Content Design Bootcamp preferred.
  • 6 years of experience as a Content Designer, UX Writer, or similar role.
Additional Qualifications
  • Completion of a UX Writing/Content Design bootcamp.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and experience translating user research insights into effective content strategies.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered content design, including the creation of microcopy, error messages, and notifications that drive user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Strong familiarity with working in a SAFe Agile framework.
  • Demonstrated ability with SEO best practices and a strong understanding of how content impacts search engine rankings.
  • Strong familiarity with ADA and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Strong familiarity with content management systems like AEM and design tools like Figma and Miro, enabling effective collaboration with designers and developers.
