Note:

Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is seeking a faculty physician to join its Section of Bone Marrow Transplant, Cell and Gene Therapy. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary program providing the full spectrum of hematopoietic cell transplantation, cellular therapy, and gene therapy for children and adolescents with malignant and nonmalignant diseases. Clinical responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care, participation in the shared BMT and cellular therapy call schedule, and collaboration with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams across the region.

Candidates should have completed an accredited fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and possess additional training or substantial clinical experience in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy. Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is required. Candidates with experience in gene therapy—or a strong interest in developing clinical and academic expertise in this rapidly expanding field—are particularly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate an interest in clinical program development, education, mentorship, and academic scholarship.

Opportunities are available to develop clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research aligned with the candidate’s interests and the strategic priorities of the program. The pediatric program performs approximately 45–50 autologous and allogeneic transplants annually, including matched related, unrelated donor, haploidentical, and other alternative-donor procedures. It also provides CAR T-cell and gene therapies. The program is jointly FACT-accredited with the BMT program at Mayo Clinic Arizona and has consistently achieved excellent transplant outcomes.

Phoenix Children’s is a Children’s Oncology Group member institution, and its pediatric BMT program is a COG-designated transplant center. The program participates in collaborative clinical research through national consortia, including the Pediatric Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Consortium and the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium, as well as sickle cell disease research networks. Areas of clinical and research focus include leukemia and myeloproliferative disorders, hemoglobinopathies, immune deficiencies, graft-versus-host disease, BMT survivorship, and emerging cell and gene therapies.

Faculty members participate in the education of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students. Academic appointments are available through the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix and Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The staff physician shall provide patient care services and will support the Phoenix Children's mission of providing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families.
