The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.

Position Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field
Other Requirements
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled or completed student teaching or Student Teacher in service Learning Contract

Essential Job Tasks
  • Plan and implement a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the school curriculum.
  • Use effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Create a weekly written lesson plan, describing daily learning experiences.
  • Monitor and assess student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents.
  • Diagnose, instruct and evaluate specific student needs and seek assistance of district specialists as required.
  • Communicate aims and/or objectives to students in a well‑planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior.
  • Develop and implement reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner.
  • Create educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of personal social adjustment, decision‑making, positive self‑image and other life skills.
  • Promote and follow the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations and administrative procedures.
  • Communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner.
  • Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school‑sponsored activities.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal / supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Working Conditions

Work primarily occurs in a classroom setting. Considerable repetitive computer functions. Constant interruptions in a high‑volume work environment. Work is performed with time pressures and requires handling multiple tasks, frequently changing tasks and interruptions. Extensive public contact via telephone, email and in person. Work requires the ability to remain in a sitting position for 50% of the time, 25% walking and 25% standing.
