Overview
The Instructional Assistant, CTE provides support services required in implementing the instructional plan as prescribed by the CTE teacher or Instructional Leader. This role supports daily educational learning, prepares instructional materials, and aids in lesson implementation and student supervision.
Responsibilities- Provides the support services required in implementing the instructional plan as prescribed by the CTE teacher or Instructional Leader.
- Monitors students during lessons to ensure they follow the teacher's progression, and reviews/grades homework and classwork.
- Researches information for curriculum, implements and prepares lessons under the direction of a teacher.
- Assists teachers with classroom discipline; refocuses students not paying attention during lessons; answers individual questions.
- Helps individual student assignments and studies; provides additional explanations or tutoring for individuals and small groups.
- Assists teachers with preparing materials for lessons; ensures all necessary supplies and equipment are available and used properly by students.
- Participates in test administration; maintains student folders and records; administers, scores and records test results; collects data on student performance and reports progress or problems.
- Completes and submits daily and weekly CTE classroom documents required by the state.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior with students, parents, visitors, and staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues; follows Governing Board Policies; performs related duties as required or assigned.
- Second language preferred for ESL assignments.
- Ability to prepare and implement concise lesson plans; basic knowledge of the subject being taught; ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.

- Skills in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments; writing professional reports and correspondence; understanding and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; researching and compiling data for reports and technical documents.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences and to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to use initiative within organizational policies and guidelines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND some previous classroom experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements: Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES
