We’re seeking a Youth Council Adult Advisor at Friendly House in Phoenix, AZ to develop, coordinate, and support a youth‑led leadership council across school and community settings.

Job DescriptionThe Youth Council Adult Advisor is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting a youth‑led leadership council within school and community settings. This role centers youth voice, youth decision‑making, and youth‑driven project development. The advisor provides structure, mentorship, and support while ensuring that young people remain the primary drivers of ideas, planning, and execution. The advisor ensures all activities align with program goals, comply with funding requirements, and reflect positive youth development practices.
Qualifications- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience working with youth in leadership, mentoring, facilitation, or youth council settings, including leading groups, workshops, or youth‑driven activities
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Valid "Identity Verified Print" Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one and be in good standing with the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Experience delivering teen pregnancy prevention programs or youth health education in school or community settings
- 3 years of experience working with youth, including facilitating youth groups, workshops, training, classes, or youth‑led activities
- Strong understanding of youth‑led programming, youth voice, and positive youth development practices
- Ability to conduct outreach to parents, schools, and community sites to secure youth council participation and implementation locations
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Establish, launch, and facilitate a youth‑led council that empowers youth to take ownership of their leadership, planning, and community initiatives
- Support youth as they design, plan, and implement projects, outreach efforts, service‑learning activities, and presentations
- Provide guidance and mentorship while ensuring the council remains youth‑driven, with adults acting as support rather than decision‑makers
- Implement positive youth development, leadership‑building, and community engagement principles in all interactions with youth
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where youth feel valued, respected, and encouraged to lead
- Communicate consistently with program staff, site leads, and community partners regarding council progress, needs, and youth‑driven goals
- Build relationships with schools, community agencies, and Arizona Department of Health Services contractors to support youth recruitment and strengthen community partnerships
- Ensure participant engagement by providing follow‑up communication, reminders, and support to maintain attendance and participation
- Track attendance and document youth council activities in required data systems (TPP Connect, Wyman Connect, and internal databases)
- Maintain accurate and timely data related to participants, incentives, and program activities to meet ADHS and internal reporting requirements
- Ensure all program activities meet grant expectations and are implemented with fidelity while maintaining a youth‑led structure
- Maintain up‑to‑date records, secure confidential documents appropriately, and support the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as outlined by ADHS
- Perform other duties as assigned by the program supervisor
Mostly sedentary when in office. Travel to meet with participants off site and take part in community events (indoor and outdoor).
