The position of Teacher – Elementary is dedicated to supporting the instructional process by supervising students, developing and delivering lesson plans, collaborating with school staff, and responding to inquiries from parents, guardians, and the community. This role reports to the Site Administrator.
Essential Functions- Administers developmental testing programs and subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop individual learning plans.
- Advises parents/guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and strategies for improvement.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to enhance student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Counsels students to improve performance, health, coping skills, and personal issues.
- Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners for effective, individualized instruction.
- Differentiates classroom work to meet individualized learning needs within established lesson plans.
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to support classroom program.
- Facilitates student learning to achieve success in academics, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
- Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips) to maintain a safe and positive environment.
- Organizes age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation in learning.
- Participates in PLC teams to review data and instructional practices.
- Participates in staff, district, IEP, 504, and other meetings to convey or gather required information.
- Prepares written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Reports health and safety issues to the administrator and appropriate agencies per regulatory requirements.
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns or direct them to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc., to resolve issues and provide information.
Performs additional duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment and software; teaching Arizona State‑recognized standards; preparing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge of algebra/geometry, technical reading, document composition, group facilitation, and analysis of issues. Abilities include scheduling, data collection, equipment use, flexibility, diversity engagement, problem‑solving, confidentiality, and working flexible hours.
- Responsibilities: Working under limited supervision with standardized practices; directing others in a small work unit; utilizing resources from other units. Opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
- Work Environment: Requires occasional lifting and repetitive movements; 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing; exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury.
