JOB GOAL:
Incumbents are responsible for providing instructional assistance to children who are in a program for emotional and behavioral problems or are in the alternative education classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read and write in order to communicate and receive instruction, High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D) and 2 years of experience working with academically or emotionally challenged children, or and equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Some positions may require:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. Valid IVP Fingerprint Card

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally or academically challenged children; may assist in grading, recording, and averaging papers and/or scores. Escorts children to the bus, time-out, the nurse's office and/or across campus. Assists teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive in the classroom. Prepares and maintains a variety of logs, reports, files, and reviews.

Assists students with physical activities. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Positions in this class typically require: stooping, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May be subjected to odors, chemicals, blood and other body fluids, extreme temperatures, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.

KNOWLEDGE AND

SKILLS:

Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures. Child development concepts and practices;
Disciplinary practices and procedures within an educational setting;
Behavioral modification techniques;
Safety procedures and guidelines
