Vista College Prep Ameri Corps Members serve as an integral part of school communities, partnering with teachers and school leaders to improve student academic achievement, attendance, and school culture. Members provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in reading, mathematics, and English language development, delivering targeted, differentiated instruction that helps students build the skills needed for academic success.
Ameri Corps Members also support positive student behavior by providing supervision during bus transportation, breakfast, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times. To improve student attendance, members partner with teachers and administrators to educate students and families about the importance of regular school attendance, monitor attendance trends, and communicate with families to encourage consistent participation in school.
Through these combined efforts, Vista College Prep Ameri Corps Members help increase academic proficiency, improve student engagement and behavior, strengthen school climate, and ensure more students attend school consistently and are prepared to succeed.
