As a SUE Technician, you’ll be the boots‑on‑the‑ground leader driving success in the field, helping engineers and designers make smarter, safer decisions every day.
You will work closely with Senior SUE Staff, Project Manager and engineers to identify utility conflicts using electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey, and vacuum excavation.
- Work with a team of talented individuals to tackle a wide variety of projects.
- Read and interpret utility records, as‑built and survey drawings, and highway design plans.
- Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
- Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
- Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic protocols.
- Call "One‑Call" tickets.
- Coordinate survey work in relation with SUE.
- Supervise activities of field crew.
- Train junior crew members.
- Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and communicate with utility companies.
- Minimum 2 years of experience using electromagnetic and geophysical designating technologies.
- 5+ years of experience preferred.
- Experience with VAC truck preferred.
- Must be able to quickly grasp new technologies.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
- High level of reading comprehension and communication skills.
- Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Occasional travel out of town and willingness to work overtime.
- Able to walk long distances daily and lift heavy equipment up to 80 lbs.
- Good driving skills and clean driving record.
- Prioritize safety for yourself and others.
- May need to work nights/weekends.
- English proficiency for written and verbal communications.
