We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer
, based out of our Phoenix office. This position is responsible for the process engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.
Main functions include (but not limited to):
- Process Engineering
- Metallurgical Evaluation
- Peer review of estimates, schedules, proposals, designs and constructability
- Technical Support
- Reporting and Documentation
Responsibilities:
- Manages internal design and drafting resources.
- Manages the Process design team to ensure that Process designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
- Ensures the effective review and approval of Process design and engineering
- Develops improved work practices and ensures familiarity with new and innovative process technologies
- Undertakes techno-economic investigations
- Leads and / or assists with the process related commissioning activities of the project including legal appointments for commissioning activities.
- Ensures that the installation is in accordance with the project & vendor specifications provide for the expected process functionality.
- Displays a positive disposition towards expat commissioning requirements.
- Provides process inputs for preliminary economics assessments, pre-feasibility studies, and feasibility studies
- Participates in studies completed under the CIM’s National Instrument 43-101, understands the standard, and leads the preparation of relevant report sections.
- Understands and applies the CIM Practice Guidelines for Mineral Processing for studies completed under the NI 43-101 standard.
- Assesses processes for their relevance and the adequacy of engineering equipment.
- Designs, installs and commissions new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processing issues.
- Applies the principles of mass and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme and detail design.
- Prepares reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and charts, and participates in the preparation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Manages the cost and time/schedule constraints within a project.
- Selects, manages and works with sub-contractors and vendors, as required.
- Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
- Assumes responsibility for risk assessment, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) and identification (HAZID) studies, for the health and safety of both company staff and the wider community.
- Works closely with other specialists, including scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering
- Professional Engineer with license to operate as engineer in province or state of employment
- Minimum 10+ years of mineral processing operations / management or mineral processing design and commissioning
