AmSafe is seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our operations team in Phoenix, Arizona. We’re looking for an energetic and self-motivated engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and embodies AmSafe culture — thinking and acting like an owner, taking accountability, maintaining a sense of urgency, and driving results through teamwork and continuous improvement. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and plays a critical part in optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, and delivering high-quality products to our customers and helping lead our automation journey.

The Manufacturing Engineer will lead process improvement initiatives, modernize manufacturing systems, and drive operational excellence. This role requires balancing technical expertise with strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. As a cultural ambassador, this individual will collaborate cross-functionally, act with a bias for action, and simplify processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

• Refine and enhance production processes by applying continuous improvement principles aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to implement design-for-manufacturing improvements that support cost, quality, and delivery goals.
• Lead root cause investigations using statistical and analytical tools (DOE, SPC, A3, etc.) to eliminate recurring issues.
• Develop creative, low-cost mistake-proofing solutions for process failure modes to drive product and process reliability.
• Identify and implement productivity improvements and cost-saving initiatives that reflect ownership and accountability.
• Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions to support efficient production and new product launches.
• Evaluate, justify, and manage capital equipment projects, from concept design through installation and validation.
• Author and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and control plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Partner with business unit teams to identify opportunities to automate and modernize legacy processes.
• Champion open communication and cross-functional teamwork — ensuring that challenges and ideas are surfaced and addressed promptly.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotic, or Mechatronic Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or related role.
• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
• Proficiency with Solid Works for modeling and creating technical drawings.
• Experience applying quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, control plans, and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, actuators, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems (QAD experience a plus).
• Spanish-speaking skills are a plus but not required.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
