Manufacturing EngineerAmSafe is seeking a proactive and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our operations team in Phoenix, Arizona. We’re looking for an energetic and self-motivated engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and embodies AmSafe culture — thinking and acting like an owner, taking accountability, maintaining a sense of urgency, and driving results through teamwork and continuous improvement. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and plays a critical part in optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency, and delivering high-quality products to our customers and helping lead our automation journey.
Scopeand Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Engineer will lead process improvement initiatives, modernize manufacturing systems, and drive operational excellence. This role requires balancing technical expertise with strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills. As a cultural ambassador, this individual will collaborate cross-functionally, act with a bias for action, and simplify processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Functions:- Refine and enhance production processes by applying continuous improvement principles aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to implement design-for-manufacturing improvements that support cost, quality, and delivery goals.
- Lead root cause investigations using statistical and analytical tools (DOE, SPC, A3, etc.) to eliminate recurring issues.
- Develop creative, low-cost mistake-proofing solutions for process failure modes to drive product and process reliability.
- Identify and implement productivity improvements and cost-saving initiatives that reflect ownership and accountability.
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and automation solutions to support efficient production and new product launches.
- Evaluate, justify, and manage capital equipment projects, from concept design through installation and validation.
- Author and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions and control plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with business unit teams to identify opportunities to automate and modernize legacy processes.
- Champion open communication and cross-functional teamwork — ensuring that challenges and ideas are surfaced and addressed promptly.

Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotic, or Mechatronic Engineering required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or related role.
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
- Proficiency with Solid Works for modeling and creating technical drawings.
- Experience applying quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, PPAP, control plans, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, actuators, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems (QAD experience a plus).
- Spanish-speaking skills are a plus but not required.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
