About the Role

Under limited supervision, the Safety Specialist – Field Services provides front-line HSE support to Maverick Power’s Field Services team working on data center and other large-scale construction projects.

This role focuses on
  • Conducting site safety walks and audits in alignment with OSHA Construction (29 CFR 1926) requirements.
  • Delivering required and task-specific safety training to field employees in person.
  • Liaising directly with customers, general contractors, and subcontractor safety teams to align expectations, clarify requirements, and ensure our team has the necessary PPE, training, and information to work safely and effectively.

When field support needs are met or travel is not required, this position will work from one of Maverick Power’s manufacturing facilities to assist the broader safety team with program implementation, audits, and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety walks and audits at customer construction sites to observe work practices, verify compliance with OSHA Construction standards, identify hazards, and support safe execution of field activities.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and daily safety meetings with Maverick Power crews, general contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customer safety teams, general contractors, and other stakeholders on site.
  • Serve as the primary safety liaison for field teams—ensuring site-specific safety requirements, permits, and training needs are clearly understood and communicated back to Corporate HSE.
  • Deliver in-person safety training to field employees, including new hire orientations, required regulatory courses (e.g., LOTO, fall protection, electrical safety), and task-specific/toolbox trainings.
  • Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, conduct root cause analyses, develop corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned across teams.
  • Identify, document, and follow up on unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and employee safety suggestions. Ensure timely corrective actions are implemented and verified.
  • Exercise stop work authority when imminent danger is observed, and elevate issues promptly to the Corporate HSE Manager and Director of Field Services.
  • Assist with the implementation of Maverick Power’s Integrated Safety System, HSE policies, and Vision Zero initiatives within the field environment.
  • Compile safety data, photographs, and reports for audits, inspections, incidents, and compliance tracking in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • When working at a manufacturing facility, support the site safety team with daily walks, audits, training, inspections, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and new project kickoffs to identify and address safety concerns early in project planning.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Safety, HSE, or related field OR 4+ years of equivalent safety experience in construction or field service environments.
