** About the Position
** At Maricopa County's Planning and Development, we provide our Engineers with consistency and the opportunity to balance work with their social life. As a Plans Examiner Engineer, you can expect a consistent 40-hour-a-week schedule that will challenge and encourage you to learn new aspects of engineering.

As a Plans Examiner Engineer, you will work with a team of Professional Engineers and Engineering Associates to review permit applications for construction projects, planning cases (entitlement), and assist with on-call services to address customer inquiries. You will review a variety of projects, ranging from residential to commercial and industrial, as well as subdivisions, while interacting with consulting engineers, developers, homeowners, inspectors, and contractors.

You will also assist and coordinate with other County permitting agencies, including the Flood Control District, MCDOT, Environmental Services, and Real Estate This position offers the option of part-week teleworking, a 9/80 flex schedule, and flexible core business hours.

** We Require
*** Two years of experience in engineering or land/site engineering
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field
* Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Arizona
** Other Requirements
*** Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Driver's license by the time of hire
** We Also Value
*** Five years of experience as a Professional Engineer
* Design experience in land development, hydrology/hydraulic engineering, and municipal roadway projects
* Drainage report/calculations preparation
* Knowledge of Floodplain Regulations and/or Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
** Job Contributions
*** Review civil engineered site and grading and drainage plans, drainage reports, subdivision plans, and engineered plans for single-family residences, commercial and industrial developments, to ensure compliance with County Drainage, Subdivision, Department of Transportation, Flood Control District, Storm Water, and Zoning regulations and requirements, including reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
* Prepare written review comments or plan redlines
* Meet with and communicate engineering requirements to engineers, planners, developers, real estate agents, and the public
* Provide on-call (customer inquiry) services to the public
