Position SummaryAn Engineer II is responsible for designing intermediate building systems, preparing design documents, and performing engineering calculations. The role includes occasional task management and mentoring of less experienced designers.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities- Drafting & Design
:
Perform calculations and design basic to intermediate systems with minimal supervision; prepare layouts, detailed drawings, schematics; review shop drawings; produce reports and plans; research and recommend equipment. - Business Development
:
Collaborate on pursuit activities; participate in client, company, and industry events. - Client Experience
:
Foster a client‑centric mindset; communicate with clients and architects; visit sites; resolve conflicts. - Continuous Learning
:
Seek knowledge gaps; use software like Revit, Bluebeam, Office; research trends; adhere to design guidelines. - Project Management
:
Perform limited management tasks under supervision; support project coordination and communication. - Professional Engineer & Engineer of Record (if applicable):
Meet higher industry standards; may be required as EOR, responsible for signing and sealing.

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or 6 years with a high‑school diploma.
- Professional Engineer license required, may count as 1 year of experience.
- FE exam completion preferred.
- Additional certifications (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, LEED, WELL) preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design, A&E industry, codes, and design guides.
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam.
- High technical aptitude; effective verbal and written communication; critical thinking; teamwork; adaptability; prioritization; feedback;
Microsoft Office proficiency. - Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies described.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
