Position Summary

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing and reviewing detailed cost estimates for large‑scale heavy civil construction projects, including transportation, earthwork, and underground utility work. This role requires strong analytical skills, deep field experience, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, competitive, and high‑quality proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote Safety as the top priority in all estimating and preconstruction activities.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, geotechnical data, and related documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform quantity take‑offs using computer‑aided estimating tools.
  • Verify site conditions, evaluate construction methods, and assess equipment utilization.
  • Develop labor, material, and production‑based cost estimates with precision and accuracy.
  • Prepare and assist in assembling bid packages, schedules, and proposal documents.
  • Collaborate closely with internal estimating, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Participate in pre‑bid site visits, investigations, and team review meetings.
  • Provide constructability input and technical support during project pursuit and handoff to Operations.
  • Maintain detailed estimating documentation and cost history databases.
  • Support business development teams with regional pursuit strategies and proposal presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of estimating experience in highway heavy, earthwork, or underground wet utilities projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and prepare estimates for large‑scale heavy civil projects.
  • Strong teamwork and self‑motivation with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to interface with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid (or similar estimating programs), Agtek (or similar earthwork software), Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Familiar with Primavera (P6) scheduling tools.
  • Detail‑oriented with exceptional time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
Compensation & Working Conditions

Base Salary : $165,000 – $195,000 (DOE)

Work Environment :
Primarily office‑based with regular computer use; some travel and on‑site visits required.

Ability to sit for extended periods; occasional standing, bending, and light lifting (5–20 lbs).
