The Office of the City Engineer (OCE) oversees and manages the design and construction of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for various city departments. We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer III to join our Vertical Project Management Section, where you’ll play a key role in delivering impactful CIP projects. This position is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for city‑owned properties and facilities located outside the public right of way.
Typical projects include new building construction, libraries, tenant improvements, parks, landfills, and upgrades to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
The Civil Engineer III will lead complex, multidisciplinary projects from planning and design through construction and completion, utilizing a variety of construction delivery methods. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful impact on the City’s infrastructure while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.

- Oversee the entire lifecycle of design and project construction.
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize activities.
- Effectively communicate with other City departments and project sponsors.
- Work with consultants, contractors, and client departments to develop realistic budgets and schedules.
- Conduct extensive and complex design and construction pricing analyses.
- Negotiate comprehensive design and construction contracts and pricing.
- Perform in‑depth cost comparisons and value engineering assessments.
- Manage design professionals and contractor relationships and project execution.
- Communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex issues related to project planning, design, and construction.
