Lead Mechanical Engineer
Participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for HVAC wet/dry, plumbing, controls, and similar systems.
Responsibilities- Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high‑technology facilities including clean rooms, general manufacturing/process facilities, and institutional facilities.
- Prepares mechanical engineering calculations to support HVAC system design, including heat‑load calculations, duct sizing, chilled‑water hydraulics, static‑pressure calculations, and equipment sizing/selection.
- Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities, including man‑hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervising discipline personnel on the projects.
- Supports on‑site project execution and makes decisions to support project objectives and act as a technical consultant.
- Develops manpower and labor‑cost requirements for a project and monitors them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and designs for staff’s specific area of expertise.
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality, cost‑effective work by the discipline team.
- Develops conceptual, preliminary, and final design documents, including sizing and selection calculations, process and instrumentation diagrams, general arrangements, and sequences of operation for these systems.
- Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines, as well as with other design offices.
- Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of deliverables and ensures those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 8+ years of experience.
- Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record.
- Consulting engineering experience.
- Experience working within a team environment.
- Experience in the quality‑control review process.
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes.
