Research Scientist, Chemical Engineer
Responsibilities
Position is primarily responsible for providing chemistry laboratory support for Honeywell Aerospace. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to, the following:
- Focal point Chemistry Lab Solution Analysis daily work
- Collaborate with customers to understand desired deliverables
- Rotating weekend on‑call support for test cell filter analysis
- Cross‑train in the Chemistry Lab to provide support in other areas of the lab
- Monitor existing chemistry lab processes and develop/update processes
- Recording and reporting of analysis results using Honeywell web‑based LIMS software.
- Daily communication with Lab management, coworkers, and customers.
- Compliance to Honeywell requirements by maintaining and following appropriate work instructions for materials testing laboratories.
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 2+ years experience working in a chemistry lab environment demonstrating strong understanding of chemistry lab processes/procedures
- Demonstrated expertise in wet chemistry and chemical solution analysis techniques including but not limited to pH, color titrations, and dilutions
- Demonstrated expertise in wet chemistry and chemical solution analysis techniques including but not limited, UV‑Vis, ICP, viscosity, and TAN
- Familiarity with ASTM/industry specifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing both conversational & technical English.
- Customer focused. Must be able to interface with Honeywell Engineering customers and consistently meet customer requested turn times on chemistry lab work.
- Must be able to cope with high demand production critical environment.
- Awareness of safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage and disposal of strong acids (HF), bases, volatile solvents, toxic chemicals (cyanides); and an understanding of their hazards.
- Must be able to interface with engineering personnel to resolve technical issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
