Job DescriptionCDM Smith is looking for a Geologist to join our Environmental Services Group in Phoenix, Arizona!
As part of our team, you will perform basic to moderate site evaluations including geologic and seismic evaluations, and hydrogeologic analyses (such as aquifer test analysis, geochemical analysis, geotechnical analysis, and contaminant transport analysis) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions related to contaminant assessments. Your tasks may include lithologic and geophysical well logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer performance testing, soils characterization, and data compilation and evaluation.
You will prepare cross sections, iso‑contour and iso‑concentration maps, and perform QA/QC analyses, developing draft evaluations and calculations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform basic and moderate site evaluations including geologic, seismic, and hydrogeologic analyses.
- Conduct lithologic and geophysical well logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer performance testing, soils characterization.
- Compile and evaluate data, preparing cross sections, iso‑contour and iso‑concentration maps.
- Carry out QA/QC analyses and develop draft evaluations to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Attend conferences and contribute to the firm’s Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline.
- 1 year of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Skills and AbilitiesIntermediate Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.). Good written and verbal communication skills.
Driver's License RequirementsAn appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
