Senior Designer

DRA Global Limited is an international, multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery, and operations management group, predominantly focused on the mining, minerals, and metals industry.

The Group has an extensive track record spanning almost four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals, and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as water and energy solutions.

DRA operates across all major mining regions with offices in Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, the USA, and Asia-Pacific.

We are currently seeking a Senior Designer – Process CAD to join our growing team in Phoenix, AZ . This role is responsible for developing high-quality PFDs and P&IDs, administering the AutoCAD P&n environment, and supporting end-users across projects while ensuring compliance with project standards, workflows, and quality protocols.

Responsibilities Technical Expertise
  • Set up and configure AutoCAD P&, customize symbols, reports, and lists to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Administer the AutoCAD P& environment and develop supporting documentation, work instructions, and maintenance routines.
  • Interpret conceptual flow diagrams, process data, and engineering inputs to create accurate drawings.
  • Modify and update drawings to meet client and internal engineering requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal drawing office standards and applicable codes.
  • Provide local end-user training and support to design teams.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of AutoCAD setup, processes, and project configurations.
Budget Management
  • Manage and track man-hour usage related to drawing production.
  • Deliver high-quality drawing packages on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitor and report on any deviations from the drawing budget.
Quality
  • Ensure drawing accuracy and adherence to project quality procedures.
  • Perform self-checks and audits to minimize errors and uphold drafting standards.
  • Support drawing QA / QC and data integrity within the AutoCAD environment.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Office Lead, Process Engineers, and multi-discipline design teams.
  • Effectively communicate technical updates, drawing revisions, and handover information.
  • Lead and deliver effective end-user training sessions on design systems.
  • Identify and elevate any drawing or system-related issues proactively.

Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in engineering, drafting, or a related field – required
  • 6–10 years of experience drafting PFDs and P&IDs in AutoCAD P& – required
  • Experience administering AutoCAD P& SQL-based environments – required
  • Experience in mining, EPCM, or heavy industrial project environments – advantageous
Skills
  • Expert proficiency with AutoCAD P& – essential
  • SQL Database understanding – essential
  • MS Office, particularly Excel – essential
  • Document control and AutoCAD database administration
  • Strong understanding of drawing QA / QC procedures and design codes
  • Effective at managing multiple tasks and priorities in a collaborative environment
Physical Requirements

While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit in a stationary position 50% of the time, alternate between sitting and standing, push / pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop.

May be required on occasion to lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small packages, typically up to 10
-20 pounds.

Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.

Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, analyzing data, and working on a computer.
