Automation Engineer 1
Job DescriptionCDM Smith is looking for an Automation Engineer 1 to join our team in 2026. You will work with a dynamic team of industry‑leading engineers and specialists on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects.
Responsibilities- Create basic instrumentation, controls, and related system designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs.
- Review simple component‑level shop drawings.
- Design human‑machine interface (HMI) components, programmable logic controller (PLC) logic, and related reports.
- Assist with testing and startup of instrumentation, controls, and related systems.
- Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
0 years of experience. Equivalent direct experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Domestic and/or international travel up to 5% of the time.
Skills and Abilities- Basic knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and related system design.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Moderate knowledge of 3D and 4D CAD drafting.
