A client of LHH is hiring a Project Manager – Switchgear.
About the roleYou will lead custom switch gear and integrated power system projects from order acceptance through final delivery. You’ll own schedule, scope, budget, and quality—coordinating closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and the customer to ensure each milestone is met and every deliverable is audit‑ready. This role is ideal for a technically strong project leader who thrives in fast‑paced manufacturing environments and can steer complex, multi‑stakeholder programs with clear communication and accountability.
Whatyou’ll do
- Run the full project lifecycle
: kickoff, detailed scheduling, execution, FAT/ship, and closeout—controlling scope, timeline, and budget with proactive risk/mitigation plans. - Drive rigorous planning
: develop integrated project plans, maintain timelines & dependencies, track deliverables, and lead recurring status reviews with customers and internal teams. - Be the primary customer interface
: set expectations, manage changes, and ensure issues are escalated and resolved quickly and professionally. - Coordinate cross‑functionally
: align Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Sales on drawings, BOMs, production schedules, materials, and contract/spec requirements. - Provide technical oversight
: review single‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications; ensure designs meet customer needs, regulatory/utility standards, and manufacturing capabilities. - Own FAT
: schedule and coordinate factory acceptance testing—prepare documentation, manage customer attendance, and close actions prior to shipment. - Control changes & finances
: manage change orders (pricing, scope, timing), monitor budgets/margins/cost drivers, and deliver accurate status and financial reports to leadership. - Improve continuously
: identify opportunities that reduce cycle time, enhance quality, and lower cost without compromising safety or compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
, Mechanical Engineering
, Construction Management
, or related field (preferred). - Experience: 5+ years of project management in switch gear
, electrical distribution
, power systems
, or industrial manufacturing
. - Product domain: Hands‑on experience with MV/LV switch gear
, motor control centers (MCCs), e‑houses/modular power systems
, or similar. - Technical fluency: Strong grasp of electrical distribution equipment,
UL standards
, and utility requirements
; able to read/interpret electrical drawings and technical specs. - Tools: Proficiency with ERP systems (
Net Suite preferred
),
MS Project (or similar), and the Microsoft 365 suite. - Soft skills: Clear communicator and facilitator; effective negotiator and customer advocate; exceptionally organized; comfortable managing multiple high‑complexity projects in parallel; high ownership and urgency.
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of technically sophisticated, high‑impact power projects.
- Partner daily with engineering, operations, and commercial teams who value safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
