Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of drilling and blasting activities, ensuring alignment with production goals and regulatory standards. The role demands strong technical oversight, operational leadership, and a proactive approach to safety and compliance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate pre-blast briefings and ensure proper evacuation and communication with all relevant departments.
  • Train personnel on proper handling of explosives and blasting equipment, ensuring all certifications are current.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable U.S. regulations and site protocols concerning safety, explosive handling, and environmental compliance.
  • Implement drilling and blasting plans in coordination with mine schedules and budget targets.
  • Supervise daily field operations, enforcing rigorous safety practices and maintaining documentation for high-risk tasks.
  • Review and validate blast designs, sequences, and influence zones based on geotechnical and operational data.
  • Assess blast performance and fragmentation results, applying continuous improvement measures.
  • Oversee the quality and efficiency of services provided by explosives suppliers and drilling contractors.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and prepare reports for internal audits and regulatory inspections.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of blasting products, accessories, and regulatory standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3 years in a supervisory role related to drilling and blasting.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience in blasting operations, preferably with exposure to mining contractors or explosives suppliers.
  • Training or certification in Drilling & Blasting.
