Job OverviewThe Senior Project Controls Specialist leads project controls processes and partners closely with project management teams to ensure schedule integrity, cost accuracy, and client satisfaction. This role provides expert-level oversight of planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, risk management, and reporting across engineering, procurement, and construction activities for complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and validate project controls processes, tools, and reporting standards
- Present schedule, cost, and budget status reports to project teams and clients
- Validate setup and management of Enterprise Planning & Controls software
- Analyze project data, logs, and reports to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Validate proper Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) utilization
- Develop scheduling, cost, cash flow, and forecasting reports for multiple projects
- Design and manage project controls reporting data warehouses
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to project controls team members
- Develop and implement project execution plans
- Interface with Project Management and Accounting teams to review costs, contingencies, and audits
- Review prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders (upstream and downstream)
- Analyze cash flow, earned value, progress measurement, and critical path schedules
- Lead Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM) and reporting presentations
- Perform schedule what-if scenarios and forensic project analysis
- Identify, oversee, and manage project risk processes
- Conduct quality checks, inspections, and field audits to validate reporting accuracy
- Support negotiation of contracts and agreements
- Comply with all company policies, safety standards, and procedures
Skills & Qualifications Required (Must-Have)
- 7+ years of direct project controls experience
- Strong expertise in critical path scheduling (CPM), cost management, estimating, and document control
- Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain OSHA 10-hour safety certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6
- Ability to develop and integrate construction schedules with engineering and procurement activities
- Experience leading large, multi-project controls programs
