Transportation Engineer

A forward-thinking engineering and planning consultancy is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer to join their growing team in Welkom, Free State . • Conduct traffic volume studies, speed analysis, and capacity assessments.
• Perform traffic impact analyses for new developments.
• Design road geometric layouts, intersection improvements, and traffic control measures.
• Develop traffic management plans for construction projects.
• Analyze public transport operations and propose service improvements.
• Utilize traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION) for analysis and design.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design drawings.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and other engineers.
• Liaise with municipal authorities and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
• Stay current with transportation engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A Master's degree or relevant post-graduate qualification is an advantage.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and geometric design standards.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage project tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with South African traffic regulations and standards.
