- Analyze how project delays affect workforce needs, crew availability, labor costs, and completion dates.
- Model resource constraints and crew allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop and test scheduling, simulation, and forecasting methods using historical project data.
- Evaluate mitigation options, including work resequencing, crew reallocation, overtime, and subcontracting.
- Define research objectives, data requirements, and validation methods.
- Contribute technical methods, work plans, and findings to proposals and client deliverables.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to project leaders and nontechnical decision-makers.
- PhD in construction engineering, civil engineering, construction management, operations research, industrial engineering, or a related field preferred; comparable applied research experience considered.
- Experience in construction scheduling, resource allocation, project controls, or construction productivity research.
- Demonstrated experience with quantitative modeling, simulation, optimization, or statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, critical path scheduling, resource-loaded schedules, or comparable methods.
- Ability to clearly explain technical findings to project leaders and nontechnical decision-makers.
- Experience with electrical or mechanical construction, data centers, utilities, energy, or major infrastructure projects is especially relevant.
- Compensation and time commitments are agreed upon before each assignment begins.
- Opportunities may include proposal development and delivery of awarded projects.
- Option to be considered for future Alpha Gov proposals and consulting engagements.
- Potential project delivery assignments based on contract or funding awards and confirmed availability.
