Our client is a vertically integrated real estate and infrastructure investment firm that owns, operates, lends, and develops assets across the Americas. Founded in the 1990s with an initial focus on Southern California, the firm has grown into a 1,000+ person platform managing a diverse portfolio across real estate, infrastructure, and credit strategies.

The Fund Controller will be responsible for managing financial reporting and accounting oversight for a large-scale investment vehicle focused on infrastructure assets. This includes reviewing consolidated financials, addressing complex technical accounting issues, engaging with external auditors and investment partners, and collaborating with internal teams spanning operations, legal, investment management, and valuation. This leadership role involves high visibility across the organization, with occasional exposure to external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation and review of periodic financial statements at both the entity and investment levels.
• Deliver internal financial analysis and reporting; participate in recurring asset review meetings.
• Oversee technical accounting matters and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Interpret and apply provisions from partnership and financing agreements.
• Support financing activities, including the review of documentation and related accounting implications.
• Coordinate reporting processes involving joint ventures and internal governance functions.
• Monitor fund liquidity and capital activity across the platform.
• Contribute to budget planning and establish accounting procedures for newly acquired investments.
• Work alongside valuation professionals on asset assessments and related reporting adjustments.
• Manage the year-end audit process and preparation of audited financials.
• Maintain and enhance performance tracking models, including investment-level returns.
• Lead and mentor a team of accounting staff, ensuring high-quality financial work across the portfolio.
• Oversee and review investor capital activity including contributions and distributions.
• Collaborate with technology teams to support systems improvements and automation initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a combination of public accounting and private industry roles.
• Background in real assets or alternative investments required; infrastructure-related exposure preferred.
• Deep understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with enterprise accounting platforms (e.g., Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of navigating complex deal and partnership structures.
